DocGen was a project with Avenir Interactive to create a PDF tool that would allow users to bulk fill PDF's using form fields. As design and research lead, my objective was to find out if there was a need to create a tool that would allow the user to extract data and pre-fill documents, and/or send out a bulk set of documents to have them filled in PDF form. Avenir began with a version of the tool that could generate bulk PDF’s with pre-filled data by using an existing platform. To determine if there was a further need for the tool, I began with interviews, surveys, and competitive research to understand the uses of PDF's, existing tools, and potential opportunities. I designed a new tool that would allow users to easily upload PDF’s, create customized form fields, and share with as many users as they wanted through a URL to populate the form fields and generate pre-filled PDF’s.
